The Nokia N77 Multimedia Computer

Nokia N77

Remember back in the day, when a cell phone used to be called a “cell phone?” Well not any more. Nokia has just introduced the N77 “Multimedia Computer,” a beast of a smartphone/mobile TV/MP3 player/computer that includes integrated DVB-H technology.

Nokia’s new N77 is so packed with features; I honestly had to read all the way down the bottom of the brochure to find out if it actually WAS a cell phone at all! The biggest selling point of the N77 is its integrated mobile TV, which uses DVB-H technology for up to 16 million colors and high definition stereo sound.

What Google has created a something far greater than a shiny new mobile phone. The company is planning a worldwide alliance between various mobile phone companies, programmers, and cell phone service carriers.

If Google has its way, all of these disparate entities will develop a new worldwide “open source” wireless phone technology. It turns out that Google’s new phone, is actually a cell phone operating system known as “Android.” The idea is for android to do for mobile phones what the development of the Internet did for home computers. Think of it as Windows XP for your phone — now you’re getting the idea.
